Good Night & Good Luck
I've just returned from New York where (among other wonders) I saw the Broadway play, "Good Night & Good Luck" - about the legendary journalist, Edward R. Murrow and his courageous stand against Joseph McCarthy, who used the House UnAmerican Activities Committee to falsely investigate and attack free speech and fellow citizens as "Communists" in the fifties.
The play will air on CNN "live" (a first!) on June 7 - at 7 pm. ET & 4 pm PT - with George Clooney as Edward R. Murrow. I hope you'll check it out - "timely" is the word!
I agree.. Clooney & his writing partner followed their film script pretty closely - and the warning bell tolls as loud, though perhaps this CNN showing will help ensure that it's heard?
The 2005 movie directed by Clooney, with David Strathairn, is also still terrific. After 20 years now, the movie seems like an unheeded warning bell.
